Sack - 10/4/26 - Button Factory

Sack, time and time again, prove that they're one of the best live bands on the Irish circuit and have been since the early 90s (judging by the staunch fanbase and the recognition of their early tunes at recent gigs, I'm not a dinosaur). Martin McCann, John Brereton, Tony Brereton, Gavin Fox and Darren Bolger are a class act, through and through. Everything Breaks opened the show, relaxing everybody and giving everyone a false sense of security for what they were about to witness. Some synth-heavy tunes that are definitely worth checking out, give them a listen. Sack burst onto stage, performing their album, which is 25 years old might I add, Adventura Majestica from start to finish. The crowd ate up every song ('Tag' is one of the most overlooked Irish singles of all time, give it a listen, breathtaking) and when the album was finished, they decided to give us some more. 'Laughter Lines' absolutely speaks for itself (it bowled me over, believe it or not), the tracks from their newest effort Wake Up, People! proved to be barnburners, and 'Climb Mine Powerhouse' is possibly THE strongest closing track of all time. Martin McCann dismantled Tony's drumkit to give to the audience (much like their last show in Whelan's, which they topped tonight). Sack, in their own way, prove their loyalty and love for their audience every time they step onstage and if you haven't caught them yet, then what are you doing? Buy the reissue of Adventura Majestica and catch their next gig, whenever that may be.
